ASP for beginners

The class 'ASP for beginners' discusses the creation of dynamic websites, such as those based on a database.
Who should attend? The beginning developer with some knowledge of HTML and designers who want to expand their knowledge.
What will you learn? After following this class you will have all the required knowledge to built and maintain a good ASP site.

Some of the subjects discussed in our ASP for beginners classes are:

  • Basics of website development
  • What is ASP, what can you do with it and how does it work?
  • ASP and VBScript syntax
  • Making varied results with If...Then, Select, For...Next and Do...Loop
  • Working with HTML-forms
  • Using the Application Object and the Session Object
  • String manipulation
  • Introduction to databases
  • Writing database queries with SQL
  • Opening a database with ASP, via ADO, OLEDB and/or ODBC
  • Displaying and changing the content of a database
  • Opening and changing files
  • Programming in modules with includes
  • Programming with ASP Objects

Prerequisits
Knowledge of HTML required. Knowledge of programming, VBScript and databases not required, but recommended.

Length
2-day lecture-only or 3-day hands-on class

Included in the class
Attendees will receive a manual containing the course slides and a book. Source code for all examples will also be supplied. The teacher provides email support for 1 year on the subjects discussed in the class.
